AMPED WIRELESS AC1200 SETUP

Requirements before the Amped Wireless AC1200 Setup

  • Choose a suitable location.
  • The router’s functioning is greatly affected by the location factor. The new location should not interfere with the operation of the range extender. The new location should not be more than halfway between your wifi router and any dead zone.

The setup process

To get started with the setup process, follow the instructions below.

CONNECTING THE TABLETPC TO THE RANGE EXTENDER3

Connecting the tablet/PC to the range extender

  • First, plug the Range extender into an available electrical outlet.
  • Use the wifi network to connect the Tablet or PC to the Range extender.

The extender’s online setup wizard appears. Follow these instructions.

  • The dashboard will reflect the current status of the range extender.
  • Click scan. The networks will be displayed.

The list will include all available wireless networks at 2.4Ghz or 5.0GHz that have been detected by the range extender. It will contain each network name (SSID) as well as the operating channel. It will also include the type of security and signal strength. Do you plan to extend the dual-band router’s range? You can choose the SSID for your 2.4GHz or 2.4GHz networks. You can also choose the SSID for the 5.0GHz network.

WELCOME TO THE SETUP WIZARD

Signal strength

Signal strength is crucial as it indicates the wireless connection between the network and the extender. Networks with a signal strength greater than 70% should be chosen. An acceptable choice for the connection is a wireless network with a signal strength below 70%. This will lead to slower throughput and frequent drops of connections. If the range extender is not able to locate a wireless network, move it closer to the one you want to use. If they are located at a distance, the signal strength can drop to 70%. Click on the SCAN button again. Click Next to continue after selecting your wireless network. Click Next if you’re connecting to one network (e.g. 2.4GHz or 5.0GHz), to continue.

SECURE NETWORK CONNECTION

Secure Network Connection

If the wireless network that you want to repeat is wirelessly secured, you will be asked for the security key. If you are using a dual-band router, enter the security key for both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz networks. If neither network has security, you can leave the field empty. After entering your security key, click on the next button to continue. Click Back if you’re unable to remember the key for the network you want to replicate. Select another network.

EXTENDED NETWORK SETTINGS

Extended Network settings

The default SSID for the range extender’s range extender is Amped_B1200EX_2.4’ and Amped_B1200EX_5.0’. The wizard will copy your SSID if you want to ‘clone” the settings from your home network. It will also copy your home network’s security key. The extended network’s SSID will always include a _RE at the end. You can manually enter a new network ID or security key. Click on Next to apply the settings.

Check your connection

Don’t leave the page or refresh it. Let the countdown finish. The wizard in the next stage will automatically redirect you to the next step.
